My work with Drake Broadcasting System

I first joined Drake Broadcasting System in the fall of 2021, when I first came to Drake University as a freshman. I have worked on a number of projects since joining, including interviews with Drake Athletes, filming concerts, and doing a weekly radio show. I’ll break down some of my favorite projects that I’ve worked on over the past year and a half.

The first big project that I headed up was Drake Broadcasting System’s 2021 Holiday One Shot. I first worked one similar videos when I was in high school and had a great time working on it. When I came to Drake, my main goal for that year was to produce a video and be able to film a Holiday One Shot. I pitched the idea to the executive council at Drake Broadcasting System and they agreed to have me produce the video. This meant I got to choose what songs the performers would lip sync to, I decided the location and direction we would walk for the video, I was in charge of reaching out to people to attend the event, and I was in charge of editing the video. The video was filmed on December 11th, 2021, and the filming went well. I was happy with everyone’s performance, so I took to editing, and it was posted a few days later to Drake Broadcasting System’s YouTube channel.

Work during Drake Relays

Two of the next big projects that I worked were worked on during Drake Relays in April 2022.

The first project I worked on was co-producing and editing a package highlighting two runners from the Drake Men’s Track and Field team, Adam Fogg and Isaac Basten, along with head coach, Jay Koloseus. My partner and I had the chance to interview them before Drake Relay’s officially kicked off. Adam, Isaac, and Coach Koloseus discussed what brought them to Drake and what their expectations were for their first official relays since the COVID-19 pandemic started. The video was premiered on the May 1st, 2022 on Drake Broadcasting System’s YouTube channel.

The second project I worked on was co-producing a video highlighting the Drake Relays artist, Bryce Vine. My partner and I both attended Bryce Vine’s concert on April 29th, 2022 so we could get good shots of him for the video. I was filming in front of the stage for the first three songs and then began to move around to different areas of the crowd to get different angles and so there would be more video options during editing. The video was premiered on the May 1st, 2022 on Drake Broadcasting System’s YouTube channel.
